Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is Imagine Christmas: from the beginning? Imagine Christmas: from the beginning is this year's Christmas event, held the weekend before Christmas. We are calling it Imagine Christmas: from the beginning because we are incorporating a beautiful Creation scene to open the program, then we will see the fall of Adam and Eve to remind us of the reason Jesus came. The performance will be approximately 85 minutes long.
2. When is it? The celebrations are December 18, 19 & 20 at 7 p.m. Doors open 45 minutes before each performance.
3. What about bringing the kids? Yes! It will be a great family event! With aerialists, fog and snow we should to able to hold the attention of every fidgety kid. We also have kids in the production, which helps kids in the audience connect with the story. We also offer childcare for children birth through 4 years old should you or they desire it. All of our children's workers have had backround checks and are well trained in caring for and engaging your child.
4. Why are we doing it? Since the very first Christmas ever, it has been about giving! God gave His son Jesus and our goal is to partner with you to create a great gift to extend to your friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family. We'd like to re-create a powerful experience for them (and you)!
5. Will it have a spiritual message? Most certainly! The central message of Christmas - God came to us - is the focus of the performance. We plan to challenge everyone to respond to the gift of God, His Son Jesus. There will be Scriptures foretelling his arrival, including Luke 2 about His birth. We will package the message with artistic expression because "This generation hears with its eyes and thinks with its feelings" (Ravi Zacharias). We believe a visually stunning, powerful performance will help our guests to hear and think.
6. What artistic things will we see? We can't tell you... it's a surprise! (Really, though—you'll see drama, dance, special effects, a whimsical set, gymnastics, aerialists, music, Christmas songs... oops! We've said too much!)
7. Are we using our own people? We are involving hundreds of people from First Baptist Church Lake Saint Louis, including our own vocalists, band, and actors. We are also partnering with Aloft Aerialists from Chicago, IL.
8. How can I help? We need you to pray, reserve tickets and invite others! We also have many needs both before and during the performance such as decorators, builders, hospitality people, ushers, greeters and more. Check VOLUNTEER to HELP for more info, or contact Josh. Your help makes it possible for Imagine Christmas to happen!
9. How should I pray? Pray mostly for the evangelistic potential of this event. We really believe it will appeal to our community, particularly our friends who are leery of church and spiritual things. We have said it before—we can pull off a tremendous production, but if it fails to reach people, it will be for naught. Pray that God would place on your heart names of people who you could invite. Pray for God to prepare their hearts, minds and schedules to say yes! Pray for spiritual and physical protection for all involved. Pray that the goodness of God will be on display (Pray also that any December blizzard would wait until December 21)!
10. Where can I get more information? If you have more detailed questions, contact Josh.
11. What about tickets? Tickets are free general admission. Doors open 45 minutes before each program.
